A tendon plays an important role in the body as it attaches our bones to the muscle.

The pain associated with tendinitis is usually described as a dull ache and tenderness, especially when using the affected area. While tendinitis can occur in any tendon in the body, it is typically found in these areas:

  • thumb
  • elbow
  • shoulder
  • hip
  • knee
  • Achilles tendon

Tendinitis more frequently results from overuse and repetitive impact on the same area. There are many activities that can cause tendinitis, including regular and frequent housework and gardening, carpentry and certain sports like tennis and cycling. Activities such as jumping, pitching, golfing and swimming can all cause tendinitis.
