BACK & HIP

Misalignment in your back and hips can cause discomfort and radiate pain to other parts of your body.

We often associate pain and discomfort with injuries or some sort of traumatic event. However, misalignment of the spine and hips can result from many things and occur over some time. Not only can it be painful, but misalignment can also limit range of motion and radiate paint to other parts of the body. Posture, core strength and personal habits all play a part. We can identify the contributors to your condition and help get you feeling better and stronger.

LOW BACK PAIN

Low back pain affects most people at some time and can easily be treated and prevented.

The easiest way to avoid this discomfort is to keep your core strong. Your core is more than just your abdominal muscles - almost every body movement uses the core. By strengthening your entire middle section, you will be taking undue stress off your spine, which can prevent pain and injury.

The good news is that you don't have to do sit-ups! There are many alternative exercises which work equally well or better when it comes to strengthening your core. Your middle will feel more stable and your spine will function properly as the pillar of support for your body's weight.

If you are experiencing low back pain or would like more information about strengthening your core, schedule a visit today.

HIP PAIN

Imbalance and misalignment causes wear and tear on the hip joint.

The body’s largest ball-and-socket joint, the hip joint endures constant use and everyday wear and tear. It has a cushion of cartilage that prevents friction as the hip bone moves in its socket. Due to the ongoing use of the hip joint, the cartilage can become worn down. If your spine is out of alignment, this wearing of the cartilage gets worse. Any musculoskeletal imbalance can impact your hip joint and accelerate wearing of the cartilage cushion.

A fall can also cause damage to the hip. Often pain in another part of the body, such as the back, can also radiate to the hip.

Regular chiropractic visits maintains health and wellness, and ensures all joints in the body, especially the hip, are functioning properly. An injury in one area can inflict pain in another part of the body.

Let us asses your alignment. We can help restore function and alleviate pain in your hip or other joints. Schedule a spinal exam today!

SCIATICA

If you have pain radiating from your lower back down to your knee, the sciatic nerve may be to blame.

The sciatic nerve is the largest in the body. When it is irritated, you may experience pain, tingling or numbness that originates in the lower back and travels behind the thigh down below the knee.

Causes of sciatica may include:

  • arthritis

  • slipped disc

  • trauma or injury

  • lumbar disc herniation (most common cause)

  • pregnancy

  • pinched nerve

Whatever the cause, it is vital to ensure the sciatic nerve is no longer inflamed or irritated to restore proper function to all joints and tissues. Dysfunction in the spine tends to cause further pain and problems such as hip pain and neck strain.

Urban Chiropractic uses a variety of methods to promote healing associated with sciatica. Spinal adjustments, ice or heat therapy, ultrasound and exercises can all help.

We can provide the support necessary to ease your pain, or prevent problems due to sciatica before they arise. Schedule a spinal assessment with us today!
